boot scripts doing nothing

hello

a pretty weird situation at my site. i was hacking around on my init scripts, and all of a sudden (from one reboot to the next) the program "halt" did not do anything...
the thing is, that the rc command I am using is the prorgam called RC (from: http:// ) which should boot by systen (what it does correctly) and then when shutting down, it should call all my scripts in reverse order with the command script_name stop (which it doesnt)

i dont know wht could have happened...

maybe enyone else???

thanks

OK, so the when you type halt it does nothing? What happens when you type init 0 (as root)? shutdown -h? If these two also do nothing, then the problem is with your init scripts. If they work, then somehow the script file called 'halt' is not doing its job. If I remeber correctly, all 'halt' does is issue a shutdown -h now command.

well

init 0 is doing nothing either, shutdown -h does the same like init 0.

the only possibility is to call rc 0 but this works only after I edited the halt script, tho shut down every process manually thet was started in the previous runlevel... that is not really a solution...

i ran rc in debug mode and it showed me, that it didnt even try to stop the processes started in the (default) runlevel.

????? i have no clue.

besides: how do i unmount the root filesys?

if I do it before i issue the hommand halt, then it wouldnt work because the filesys is then still in use.

if i issue it after halt, then it already too late, because then the kernel already shut down my system, and then i get a non-clearly unmounted drive...

any ideas?

thanks
