Boot Problem
Hi Guys,
Finally after all the confusion, i got Linux working. but now... Windows 2000, which is my other OS... that's not working now. i'm not able to boot with a windows boot floppy too. what do i do? i'm not able to do ANYTHING with windows. in the LILO boot, i get both DOS and Linux. when i select DOS, it just sez "loading dos" and nothing happens after that. wot do i do now???? pls reply immediately. thanks. regards, guru |
generally, i don't like messing with the mbr, especially with windows >98. i'd recommend booting linux with a boot disk instead of lilo.
w2k particularly likes to hog the mbr; i think that there's actually a bootmanager that comes with w2k for booting other o/s's, but i don't know much about it. you might want to try using that instead. |
if you have a linux boot disk, you can try to wipe out the MBR and lilo on it with fdisk /MBR, reboot and see if Windows then loads by default, if it works, then you should be able to get the Windows loader to configure linux to load from it or you can use the floppy whene needed.
just a thought.... or might help or point you in the right direction. |
