Boot Linux Faster

Read this great article:
http://www-106.ibm.com/developerwork...xw16BootFaster

I've adopted this technique, it's convenient(really)...

Comments anyone?

Phoey on booting faster. That thing cleared up some muddy water for me on how it works.

Mine boots fast enough for me anyway. Is good reading though. I bookmarked it.

Thanks for the link. Got anymore?

:D :D :D :D :study:

dude i was just kidding. i'm using a laptop, so since i'm on the go a lot, there's hardly a time where i can leave my laptop on for an indefinate amount of time. i did have it up for 3 days over a friday, sat, sunday when i was ripping several dvds on the hard drive. :D

Oh well

I was hoping to see some really long uptimes.

What is the longest uptime anybody has had?

Mine, about four weeks with a old AMD 400MHz and Mandrake 9.1.

Should I start a new thread and let people join in this one? I'm sure there is someone out there that has went a long time.

Curious now.

:D :D :D :D

ah! that article is too complex and I can't take the risk as I do not know enough about linux.

coolamit78 10-13-2003 05:49 AM

Yup....that's a nice link....and I really find the concept of UML (User mode linux) a fantastic one!......I think it is set to be a very significant tool for people involved in developing software as well as those looking to simulate multiple machines on the same piece of hardware...

However, the article seems complicated to me at this point......So i probably feel that I'll need some time to dwelve deeper before I can try out this one...

But anyways, thats a damn good piece of info....

thanks,

amit
