THANKS!
That is what i needed. I look into it.. |
I do not recommend actually building a floppy-disk for any Linux config anymore. Although most sites talk about doing it, about the only computer that I know of which doesn't have the ability to boot from CD-ROM (or from the network) is the tiny little machine recently cast-off by my brother. (Yep, I'm gonna put Linux on it somehow...) :Pengy:
If your machine can boot from a CD-ROM, then you can use a distro's CDs in rescue-mode, and/or you can use a stand-alone CD-ROM based system like Knoppix,, to perform any system repairs that may prove necessary. Instead of about 1.4 megabytes of available information, stored on a very unreliable media, you have more than 700mb of read-only material at your fingertips. Much better chances of recovering a system with that! There are also specific data-recovery and forensics tools, like FIRE and SystemRescueCD. Also entirely operating from CD-ROM, with ISO-images that you can burn by yourself on your own equipment. |
Okey, thanks! Though i don't need Fire or the other one, it would be sufficient with recovery cd1.
okey, so if something goes wrong i can try to reinstall the boot loader in recovery options.. |
