Bochs

I am trying to install and use bochs on Ubuntu linux.

I am making a switch from Windows to linux and haven't been able to make the full switch because I need a couple of programs that haven't been ported to linux.

I have an HP Pavilion ze4800 with an AMD Athlon XP2800+ 1.25Gz with 256 Ram.

I was trying to use the manual to install and set up bochs. I got it and the utilities it needs installed. When I tried to run it, it froze. I have tried running it from my cd iso, from the hd image, and from the cd. I set the IPS to 10000000, because I read i'm supposed to for Windows XP. No matter what I do though, it panics. I try running from the Run Program - and it freezes my puter, running it from console - it paniks.

I figure I just set it up wrong, because of the problems I ran into.
When I was trying to make the image for it, I made it 27000Megs. I have my windows mounted at start up to /media/windows
and the image in ~/winxp. When I try to copy the /media/windows to ~/winxp/c.img it starts and seems like it's working perfect, but says the disk is full after a while. I know there aren't enough files to fill it up either. I have a 27Gig partition for windows, and only about 8 is used up.
I also have a 27Gig partition for linux, and a 6Gig swap - I know it's about 5 more than I need.

I would like to get bochs running my c.img for my windows, delete my windows partition, and resise my linux partition to 54Gig.

Can anybody give me a little better guidance. I'm still a noob, but really wanting to get moved to linux.

Is your configuration file ok?

Also I'd take a look at qemu since it's supposed to be faster (check teh kqemu kernel module cuase it will run winxp faster), you don't have to configure much yourself and it's just a bit easier.
