Bluetooth tool chain question.

could anyone tell me a place I could find out what is involved in a bluetooth connection ( gps receiver )? I am wondering if it will be possible to roll back to an older release of bluez. My reasoning is that in the /etc/bluetooth i dont have alot of the assorted .conf files (hcid.conf) and have been unable to locate bluez-pins which has been used in the how to. Any way, I could be way off base in assuming its a issue with bluez. However, i wanted to see if i could work it out.

It sounds like your system is using the new BlueZ 4.x branch, which moves pairing and configuration out of plaintext files and in to DBUS calls. This makes it considerably more annoying to use on a machine without X (and really, in general) than the 3.x series.

It is indeed possible to remove BlueZ 4 and replace it with 3, but keep in mind BlueZ 3 is no longer supported and is missing a lot of the improvements made with the new releases.
