Blender alternatives?

Hi,

Okay, if this question has been posted here (in some or other form) then I'm sorry for this...just point me in the thread's direction ;)

Okay, so, for anyone out there who knows me, Blender has been acting up on me...better yet, it has NOT, in fact, Blender crashes all the time.
So, I tried it on a clean install (Arch, 512Mb, XFCE and an nVidia GeForce 6200) and it comes back with something ultra-cryptic like "bad instruction"...wow.

So, now I've had it with Blender (sorry for the Blender gang - I loved Blender, but it's time to shoot the thing down) and am looking for an alternative. I'm looking for a modeller that can export to several formats.

All/any/funny/weird/zany feedback is welcome! :D

Well. it'll cost you, but Cinema4D v11.5 (not V12 or later) works a treat using wine. There is, apparently, a native Linux version, but it's only made available to the studios and is not on general release.

For native Linux, there are a couple of modellers out there, but TBH I've tried them and they are incredibly limited. They simply can't hold a candle to Blender or commercial solutions. Maybe as time passes and development time is put in they will improve, but for now your choices are pretty much Blender or commercial+wine.
