black whole servers

hi there,
i read somewhere once that there was a way around the zoom x51 modems security issue by setting up servers that don't actually deliver anything. Could anyone tell me if this is relevant in linux, and maybe how to go about it?

would it entail running apache/threads?

Is this the correct forum to be asking on?

thanks in advance,
howard

What is a "zoom x51 modem"? Zero Google hits. What model do you have? What security issue is this? Where did you read about it? Have you asked help from the manufacturer? Have you updated firmware?
