Black screen when installing OS in VMware

I have VMware Server Console Version 1.0.4 build-56528 running on Ubuntu kernel 2.6.22-10-generic

Managed to successfully install Win XP, but when I try to install a Linux distro, the boot screen and what follows shows black.

The OS seems to load from the CD from what I can hear but all screens in VMware are black.

I have tried installing Ubuntu, SuseEnterprise Server 10, Fedora 7. Actually Fedora 7 is the only that shows the OS loading after boot screen but then it hangs with the error:

powernow-k8: BIOS error - no PSB or ACPI _PSS objects

I have successfully installed all these Linux distors outside of VM and they work fine.

Does anybody have any ideas?
