It sounds like something to do with the video card. Have you tested booting other distros?
Can you tell us what kind of the video card you have? If you can get booted, the command "lspci" in a terminal should report that information.

It seems to me that the distribution has problems to determine the correct resolution. Try adding the option (replace the resolution with the one you need) to the kernel command line in the bootloader. I don't know a thing about Unetbootin's bootloader, so you have to figure out how to do that.

Tell us more about the make and model of your computer.
Since you are using unetbootin to boot Mint, is there an OS already one the computer, and, if so, does it boot? If it does, can you use that to find out the type of video card (If it's Windows, look in Control Panel-->System-->Device Manager (I think that's what it's called).

I think it is not Linux problem, but it is hardware problem. As said frankbell, tell us if that is a laptop or desktop and if you have got other OS on it.

Or the interaction between Linux and the hardware. I once was trying to boot Knoppix and had to pass video parameters to the OS in order to get video. Once I did that, it booted like a charm.
