Bittorrent through http proxy

Hello, how are you all?
I'm currently connected through a http server, which I have to use to be able to access the internet. I've been able to get firefox, apt-get, and gaim working. But I'm stuck on Bittorrent. I think it has something to do with running a local proxy and running the connection from there to the http proxy but I'm totally lost here. Can someone please help me?
Thanks in advance

//edit sorry, maybe this should be in networking
//if a mod sees this please move it

There's some info at http://dessent.net/btfaq/#proxy, but I haven't used it myself - I just used google to find it...

Hmm... I found proxychains, which should be helpful, but when I run it it says it needs more proxy. I just need to connect through 1. Can anybody help with proxychains?
