binding keys problem after installing beryl

I installed Beryl on my Ubuntu Edgy distro and it somehow knocked out my keyboard bindings

I had binded the "windows" key on my keyboard to open the Terminal
after installing Beryl it no longer works, if I try binding it again it won't even recognize that key

sorry for the stupid question
Ive been playing around with linux since 1998 but never took the time to really learn my way around it

so what I'm asking is this
- why would this happen? Why would Beryl/XGL hijack special keyboard keys?
- How do I restore it?

A quick note: you're looking for 'xmod' type stuff. The keybindings are tied to your Window manager. When you changed WMs, you lost your keybindings.

Vague, I know, but I hope it helps.

NO, they are not. Some days ago, X applications on my box start accepting only Emacs key-bindings like Ctrl-Y for paste, Ctrl-A to go to beginning of the line and Ctrl-S for search. Now, Firefox has forgotten its own bindings like Ctrl-C for copy, Ctrl-A for select-all . I have to use mouse all the time and I did not configure any key-binding settings of X or any other thing.

Now, I have changed Window Managers from wmii to StumpWM to Window Maker but X apps still binded to emacs
