bind caching dns question

I have imap server on lan.
I have caching dns on lan.
I have a .tzo.com domain name
I port forward from router to imap server.

How do I poison the cache of my dns server so that when my laptop requests the .tzo.com domain name, instead of being given the real IP address, it is given the local IP address of the box on my lan?

Just doing it in /etc/hosts is not sufficient, since that breaks the mail client when it is not on my lan.

just put the nameserver as the IP of the DNS that resolves ur Domain on the top in /etc/resolv.conf in u r DNSserver

/etc/resolv.conf is created by the dhcp client based on info provided by the dhcp server, and needs to be so that local hostnames are resolvable on any network I connect from.

What I need to do is configure my local nameserver to send a local IP address for that one specific real hostname.

have u then configured that zones for ur domain on the local nameserver

Yes. My nameserver sends out information for .local as a tld

IE

utility.mpeters.local
desktop.mpeters.local
etc.

there are also private domain names at the school I sometimes connect to, so I have to allow dhcp to get the dns info when it connects.

I simply want mydomain.tzo.com to resolve to whatever my current IP address for my broadband is when my laptop is not at home, and I want mydomain.tzo.com to resolve to 192.168.15.2 when I am at home.

That way I can just tell evolution to connect to mydomain.tzo.com - and it will "just work"
