BIND 9.3.0 Help

Hey,

i have a few questions about my bind (named) install. I have been running it for a few months now and everything was fine. Then one day our ISP changed our "static" (yes i was told that it was static, but sadly it doesn't look like it) ip on us. Now i had to change my zone files, so that they reflect the right ips for my domains that i am a master for.

My question is, is there a way to tell (from your logs) if your zone file has been "pushed" to the root servers? i have gotten friends to try and ping the domain names, and they get "could not find host" errors. But i would like it if i could tell from my own box.

Here's a clip of my messages log file:
Quote:
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: starting BIND 9.3.0
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: loading configuration from '/etc/named.conf'
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: no IPv6 interfaces found
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: listening on IPv4 interface lo, 127.0.0.1#53
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: listening on IPv4 interface eth0, 192.168.0.10#53
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: command channel listening on 127.0.0.1#953
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: zone 0.0.127.in-addr.arpa/IN: loaded serial 200501271
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: zone anyrr.com/IN: loaded serial 200505311
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: zone cemrr.com/IN: loaded serial 200505312
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: zone proformcast.com/IN: loaded serial 200505313
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: zone rcrperformance.com/IN: loaded serial 200505314
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: running
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: zone proformcast.com/IN: sending notifies (serial 200505313)
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: zone cemrr.com/IN: sending notifies (serial 200505312)
May 31 14:21:59 Server named[3708]: client 192.168.0.1#32835: received notify for zone 'proformcast.com'
May 31 14:22:00 Server named[3708]: client 192.168.0.1#32835: received notify for zone 'cemrr.com'
Now i have a feeling that the last two lines of the log are what i want to know, but i was un sure and i couldn't find anything about those lines on google or in the DNS-HOWTO.

That being said, if the last two lines of the log are what i think they are (still with me?) that would mean that the zone files for anyrr.com and rcrperformance.com are not getting pushed to the root servers or are getting rejected.

I know it takes a bit for the new zone files to get spread around the Internet, but it has been at least 12 hours since i first made the changes, so i tried again (i thought that maybe there was a need for a reboot) by restarting the server. I changed the serial numbers in the zone files to a higher number before doing so.

Anyways, thanks for the help in advance.

The was your DNS works isn't such that your items get pushed to the root server. You don't own the IP space you're using. Initially you had to set up with your domain name provider ( I use domaingeeks.com, etc, there's godaddy.com ... ) where your DNS server was pointed to. That's where you change it to point your DNS name to the new IP address.
