Billing Package (Inventory Management)
Dear Friends, I want to know is there any best open source package for Inventory Management and Billing for small business.
thanks |
small businesses can be managed via rTollLane (the best, free, open-source project) but quite 'heavy': ~ 3GB data + ~2,5GB sources (but dont have to download them if you dont like)

Thanks friends,
Is there any other one, with good rating. |
Since last year I am using FrontAccounting for my small business. It is a LAMP application. I am very happy with it. Two of my requirements were multi-currency and inventory. It does both.
The only thing it does not do well is invoicing of goods which are not delivered yet, and processing of invoice for goods not received yet. Stay away from OpenERP (extremely buggy and inconsistent) and Xtuple (no community support and an overcomplicated program for small business) jlinkels |
To my way of thinking ... "it's all a Business Expense."
Go find the best application with which to run your Business. (Who gives a <!!> whether it's open source? You've got a business to run here!) Then, figure out which operating-system (and computer-type, in ye locale electronics store ...) will best run it. (Be sure that your CPA agrees ...) That (computer ...) and all the software too, is also "a Business Expense." |

If you have to install a VM to run your accounting software on it is an additional layer of complexity. When the application is not client/server you find yourself often in a position that you are not behind the machine where the VM is installed on. Et cetera. jlinkels |
Might see Turnkey linux for some ideas or virtual appliances. The appliances could be turned into full systems if needed.
