Better Audio Player for Transcribing Lectures

I currently am taking some courses in which I listen to and transcribe the lecture of my professor. I need a tool that will allow me to easily play a certain portion of the large (hour and a half) file in repeat. In other words, I need to repeat a few minutes or seconds at a time, and then that needs to play again so I can transcribe at the same time.

Right now, I am using audacity because there is a way to do this. The only thing I can't stand is that when I pause for a second, sometimes instead of hitting unpause, I just hit play...which annoyingly puts me back at the very beginning of the file.

Any other applications that can do this sort of thing? Or...another better way to transcribe the class? I don't have any voice recognition software, for what it's worth.
