Best torrent client
Hi,
Im new to linux...just installed Fedora 11 and getting used to things. I was wondering what is the best torrent client i can use? i know i can use utorrent with wine but id rather try something new..any suggestions thanks |
I used to use ktorrent (it's quite similar to microtorrent) - If you want something that would hardly use any system resources I'd recommend rtorrent. It's a command line program, which at first might look not very practical, however, after some tinkering I got to love it.

I like Deluge:
http://deluge-torrent.org/ It's probably available to install via your package manager also. |
Transmission
|
The odd times over the years on Win or Linux that I downloaded via torrent, I've always used Azureus.
As to what's "best" is pretty subjective; it really depends on the users personal preference. |
I tried Transmission and Vuze (formerly Azureus). The goals of the Transmission project are laudable but I chose Vuze for the very detailed information it gives and for its configurability.
Many people say Vuze is too big and slow (it's written in Java) but I find it perfectly acceptable. By default, Vuze is quite commmercial and packed with eye candy but not if you switch to "Classic View". |
Yeah transmission it's good give a try..

great thanks for the input...going to try them all and see which one suits me best..
Thanks |

Best/worst torrent client

And though the OP asked for opinions of the BEST client, not the WORST one: if a tonne of members had all agreed that ABC is a really poor choice for XYZ reasons, then the OP may save himself a teensy bit of time/bandwidth by avoiding ABC if he agreed with XYZ. :twocents: |
I like vuze because of it's easy configure options. And once it is configured it runs very smooth, plus it gives nice "health" details on torrents. I dunno, ever since the Azureus project I can't switch clients. I even know BitComet Is faster (C++) but... Dunno, and now the Vuze is kind of annoying but it is easy to install in debian. apt-get vuze
