best splash

I want to have a splash screen and a also background image for my virtual consoles, but I don't know which software to choose. I hear that I should use splashy instead of bootsplash, but that splashy is very buggy. I hear that fbsplash is better, but requires a kernel patch or something. What do you guys think is the best?

I liked bootsplash, mandriva ships with splashy, My plf theme isn't used with splashy.

How interesting... I didn't know you could do that. Something to investigate I think...

As of Mandriva 2009.0, I turn off the splash screen, so it's text only

Because I like to see any errors if they occur.

There is a new splash application under development,

I found about it here...

http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Developm...andriva_2009.1

OTHER...
Code:
Replace Splashy with Plymouth

(+1 on that.) http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=plymouth;a=summary http://freedesktop.org/software/plymouth/releases/ http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/FeatureBetterStartup usermodesetting is in the kernel now also.
I have not seen or used it, but just maybe...

Cheers, Glenn
