Best simple Linux program for uploading web pages

Can anyone recommend a Linux program that I can use to upload HTML pages to my web space provided by my ISP?

About nine years ago, when I was first finding my way around simple web publishing (under Windows 98), I used a Windows program called Terrapin to upload my simple web pages to the few megabytes of web space provided by my then ISP, Freeserve.

Now I am using Linux I wondered what would be the best Linux FOSS program for this task.

Any recommendations, please?

well what protocol are they using? there are plenty of ftp clients, e.g. gftp for prettying up that. Most file managers, e.g. Nautilus on gnome and konqueror on kde directly do this too, so there is not necessarily any need for a program at all. or you could use the fuse project to probably make it just appear like a local filesystem.

I don't know what protocol my ISP uses. I don't remember it being an issue before, and in those days I knew even less about things than I do now; but thanks for the tip about Nautilis being able to do this itself - I shall look into that when I get home.

I have found the "connect to server" function in Nautilus, popped in some log-in details and succeeded in uploading some sample HTML files to my web space. So, as you say, no extra program needed at all for basic uploading.

Thank you for your help.

Konqueror

The KDE Window Manager and it's filemanager called Konqueror allows to open a remote site in Konqueror and drag-n-drop or copy-n-paste files between your local system and the remote host. It's pretty easy and comfortable.

Menubar > Go > Network Folders > Add network folder

You need to pass username and password of course, but only the first time - Konqueror remembers these for subsequent access.

Hope this helps,
Regards,
