I've being going on and off linux since 1993. The time before OS installers were available. I always thought and still believe that it is a matter of time when Linux will become the main stream for all sectors (private and commercial).
I can with no doubt say that I've seen the progress. However MS excels in one area that makes software companies write their software for windows, providing tools for development that take under consideration Time To Market. Time To Market will make or break a startup company, and once a company developed a product that sells, they will continue making it better rather then porting it.
I've been looking for an architectural CAD software that will replace Chief Architect by ART inc. with no avail, even the one that presume to replace AutoCAD does not provide enough information to make it worth the transition.
If someone can show me the way to run my architectural business solely on Linux, I'll be the happiest man on the face of this planet.
