You can try emule with wine or winex.Worked fine for me with a win partition for wine.I am in the process of getting it to work with fakewindows.
Also pls. follow up with a post if you got any specifis trouble with mldonkey - like can't connect to servers or stuff like that.

i don't have any specific problem with mldonkey, it's just that i think it isn't smart enough. sometimes it doesn't look for a new source couple of hours. or is it normal?

Check client_connections_delay in downloads.ini - should be 180.000000 .Thats the default anyway. If you use a shorter delay you might get kicked out. There are a lot of different versions out there and some might work better or worse - in short it is a mess.
emule worked ok for me with a winme partition under wine. There is a page about how to setup emule without a win partition at http://www.linuxi.de/p2p.html
But that is in german and didn't work for me so far but that might be a problem with my system.

Well - try http://frankscorner.org/wine/modules...tid=104&page=1
But thats for version 0.22 of emule and I don't think it is going to work.Anyway - if you need some addtitional dll's you can get them from www.dll-files.com
I'll post if I get it to work.

Ok - got it up and running with wine version 20030115 and emule version 0.26d on gentoo without any additional dll's and winows_fake partition.Don't know how it will perform though. If you got problems get me an email address where I can send you the config file.
