Beryl settings lost

Im using Suse 10.2 and have beryl. I set up a theme in emerald, set up my skydome, transparencies, everything perfectly. the I added a Wine respitory in Yast, and all the sudden, all my themes are set to default, but beryl still works. So I restarted X, and beryl worked, but it wasnt the theme I originally set up. then I open the beryl manager, and beryl dosent even work anymore. I tried reloading the window manager, didnt do anything. Also tried different rendering options. Nothing. No cube, wobbly windows, nothing. what did I do wrong? how do I get my set up back?

I think KDE has taken over beryl somehow. When I restart Suse, the cube works, but my theme is gone, skydome,pretty much everything is gone. I cant seem to apply themes either. By beryl not working, I meant when I start the manager, the cube dosent rotate, No wobbly windows, nothing. But everything all of my options look unchanged. Its just that nothing is tking effect anymore. When I try to change anything, nothing happens Is there a way I can disable KDE from taking over? I really want beryl to work correctly again.

puting KDEWM=beryl in /etc/environment will tell kde to use beryl instead of kwin. if kwin taking over is your problem, that should solve it.

as root, edit the file "environment" in /etc/

add the line:
KDEWM=beryl

easiest way would be:
sudo echo KDEWM=beryl >>/etc/environment

then restart KDE.

The command seemed to work. I restarted X with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, and still have the same problem.

Now you might have to either run or from command line:
beryl &
and then:
beryl-manager &

If not, do ps aux | grep beryl and kill any beryl processes that are going, then retry those two above.

if you run beryl-manager then right click the icon check that beryl and emerald are running instead of kwin (KDE window manager)
