I've been reading up on trying to get vncserver going and using it appropriately at these links:

My understanding is that Red Hat 8 is already set up to use the Bluecurve theme when you install it (search for "Bluecurve" in the middle of that last URL). I assume the Bluecurve theme doesn't simply contain the gray background and single xterm window (because that's what I ended up with). Is this the default so that it will be faster, or is it not even possible to see the typical Gnome toolbar, etc over VNC?
If someone is sitting at the Linux box, is there any way I can VNC into it and see exactly what that person is seeing, or does it always have to be a separate desktop? Someone mentioned to me that I should look for the .xinitrc in /home/username/ but it's not there, and I'm wondering if it doesn't even matter if when I start vncserver it says the following:
"Starting applications specified in /root/.vnc/xstartup"
Also, if someone forgets to kill a vncserver process, does it just sit there forever?
One last thing: when I type
vncserver :0
it tells me that "A VNC server is already running as :0" and I'm wondering if that means the default X-window system that I see when I sit down in front of the machine. Thanks...
