Batch Processing

Hi

I want to run a job in the background, i.e. after I have logged out.
I use a '&' after the command to make it work. But recently I created another account and it does not work there. I will really appreciate if someone can help me with this.

Hi Ankan

You need to use nohup:

Code:
$ nohup yourcommand &
Look in the man page for more information. If you run it like in my example, all output will be saved in nohup.out.

Alternatively run your job from the cron, specifying the date as well as the start time if you only want to run it once.

Edit: LOL, I just saw the date on the OP..... I hope he's solved his problem in the last 8 years!
