What is making it corrupt? Any errors?

You can always download and install a new shell, either bash or any other you want to use.

Where was this folder called "id" located at? I'm not aware of any directories called of such that would be of any importance? Can you still type and run commands that are part of the bash shell at a command? If so, your bash shell is fine, you just need to find out what was in that directory called id!
