bandwidth monitor

I'm looking for a program which allows me to monitor the bandwith used on my crux 1.3 nat server.

I just want to be able to see how much up and downloading has been done in total.

in ifconfig I can see the tx and rx data transfered, but this seems to reset after about 3 or 4 GB of data.

any suggestions?

i have made a small shell script that can show the tx and rx in real time but it never satisfied me I can send it to you if you want. it takes data from the output of ifconfig and .....

@ispnepal: Thanx, but that won't be neccessary, i'm looking for something which ads up all traffic, and as I said, my tx and rx values get reset after about 3 or 4 gigs of transfer.

@iluvatar: I'll have ot chekc that out, thanx. I hope it has a non GUI version, because I don't use any X.

Gkrellm is for X system only. You may want to try out iptraf, if i remember good, has total tx/rx

You may also want to try out vnstat. It seems to be doing a pretty good job for me as to keeping stats on total hourly/daily/weekly/monthly usage. It shows both the tx and rx, as well as a total of these. It may be what you are looking for. There are some screenshots on the vnstat webpage (linked above).
