Badblocks


I'm having trouble with a crc error just after grub. I've done a search on it and haven't found a deffinative answer on fixing this problem but someone suggested that i run badblocks BUT ! the badblocks command does not work on my system, do I need to install something to use this?

I am not sure but I think badblocks is not supposed to be run on a mounted partition. I think you will need to run it from a live cd. I know knoppix contains the program, your redhat cd might.
