Bad Nautilus File Manager

my GNOME desktop is not working right. when i first log in , i don't get any icons on my desktop at all and i cann't right click on it and my wallpaper dosn't show up.since i need my thunderbird so much i just do this :
[root@FEDORA ~]# nautilus

this will open my home folder and it will cause the desktop to return to the normal state.it seems like nautilus is not running when i first access my desktop and i have no idea how to fix it. Anybody knows how to fix it ???

Are you running as root? What happens when you run as a normal user (which is what you should be doing by default anyway).

yes i'm running as a root , but i tried that on another user and it did the same thing.when i log in now , i'm getting a message that nautilus failed to start and it need to restart. it's not able to restart itself alll the time so i have to reboot the machine and try it again and again untile it works .... do you think that i can unistall nautilus and reinstall it again ? i don't know if this might mess up GNOME in general. acctually, i don't like working on KDE and i prefer to stay working on Gnome since it is faster. do think this problem is fexibale ..... thanks ....
