bad blocks and cd tracks..
 

Hi,

I have some miscellaneous questions for your answering pleasure..:

1)
How is bad file blocks handled in Linux? Is it transparently taken care of or do I need to run fsck or other utility to mark them as broken?

2)
How important is rebooting after altering the partition table? Ofcourse, if you want to play safe.. Anyone with insight in how it actually works?

3)
I need to determine the number of audiotracks on a cd via a shell script. Any ideas?
