Backup Ideas?
I don't necessarily have a problem, but would like to get the opinions of many of you out there. What backup solution should I use on my RedHat 8.0 System.
System Info: *Maximum backup will not exceed 35Gigs *AIT 35/70 Hotplug Tape drive *Compaq DL380 G3 2+ Gig of RAM *System provides services 24/7, but time can be set aside to do backups (automation a must) *Need Fullbackups daily (only on specified parts of filesystem, system files aren't necessary to backup just user data.) Doing some research on the subject I'm thinking of using cpio as a solution to this task. Is this a sufficiant way of accomplishing the above task or should I persue another means of backup? (I can provide more information if needed) |
You might want to look into Arkeia. You can use the software for free if you arent a business or something. At least they let you do that...dont know anymore...Worth checking out though....very detailed and robust....will work well.
