backing up email in Thunderbird

Hello. I'm running thunderbird .2 on suse 8.1 professional. I'm getting ready to do an upgrade of the os, and since I have a tendency to screw these things up I thought It'd be best to back up everything. However, I can't seem to find where the email is stored. Can anyone give me a pointer to where I can go to back up my email so I can burn it onto a cd? TIA!

It's in your profile, in the hidden folder .thunderbird in your home folder. ~/.thunderbird/default/random.slt/Mail/pop.server.com
If I were you I'd save the whole .thunderbird folder then you get your address book (abook.mab) and everything.
