Backing up a TV programme from Sky+ to MythTV
I've searched long and hard for an answer to this, so suspect I might be doing something beyond MythTV's capabilities, but here goes:
I have a Sky+ box (for those outside the UK, it's rather like Myth TV but in a nice stand alone box with a very nice user inteface).
I have got MythTV working in that I can watch live TV and hit R to record programmes. After that though, I have lots of issues.
I quite simply want to play a programme from my Sky+ box, hit record on MythTV and then stop recording on MythTV when the program on the Sky+ box ends. I do not want to buffer what went on before and want to stop immediately I hit R again to stop recording.
If I do that, MythTV seems to split my files up into 1.4G chunks, sometimes seems to throw away the beginning of the program, sometimes seems to record fine until it has recorded 1.4G worth of program, then starts a new file. I can usually see the .mpg files in my record directory, then sometimes it just suddenly deletes files, even though I have set the auto delete option to be three days!
All I'm trying to do is back up programmes from the Sky+ box so that I can put them on DVD and free disk space on the Sky+ box. It's exactly what I do with the Hauppauge software than comes with the pvrusb2 hardware, but only runs on Windows.
Anyone any ideas? Is there a simpler program I should be using to do this?
Many thanks.
