Backgammon on Linux?

I've managed to convince a few of my Backgammon playing buddies to try Linux as an OS and they're impressed with it. However there doesn't seem to be a Backgammon software available which performs well on Linux. We've tried running Windows Backgammon softwares on Wine but these don't perform well if at all. Will there be a Backgammon application available for Linux soon or is it available in Software Manager under another name? In the meantime does anyone know of one which will work well on Wine for now? Thanks in advance.

Try searching for a package called gnubg. It's available in Ubuntu, and therefore in Debian, and is officially beta, but you may be able to find it for other repos as well. If not, you might get a copy from the project page.

Take a look at these backgammon games. One or more may suit your needs: http://linux.software.informer.com/d...ux-backgammon/

Brilliant, thanks. I couldn't access the web page to download it so this was just what I needed.

Thanks to everyone else too for your help.
