I tried bittornado, and had the same issue. I tried changing ports, but I had the same problem. I was connected to peers, but I wasn't getting any seeds to download.

Make sure that you set the same ports in router that are set in azureus options. And check permissions for folder where torrents go to, and also your download folder.

both directories are in my home directory, and all ports are synchronous. I've checked all the logical possibilities.

Here is a quick test for you to try:

1. Set up an apache virtual host on your machine on one of the ports you're trying to use Azureus on
2. Get one of your friends to try visiting it

If the test page does not come up for your friend, either those ports are blocked by your ISP, or you have firewall issues. This rules out bittorrent clients as being the culprit totally.
