Question AVG 7.5 update problem

HI all,

I've just switched from Vista to Unbuntu 8.04.
AVG 7.5 for Linux is working O.K. except when I try to Update it - I get told that I do not have permission to execute avgupdate

There is probably an easy answer but what's left of my brain is now completely frazzled after getting Linux to run

I Hope someone can help
Thanks
Essex Lad

You prob need to be the root user (equiv to MS admin).
Try the cmd

sudo

at the cmd line. Or have a hunt through the menus, I expect there's an equiv option somewhere.

Thanks for your help, Chris

I tried sudo but got nowhere, I finally sorted it via 'Control Centre' and then 'User and Groups' selected 'avg', Unlocked it & then added my user name to it. after a reboot I was able to update AVG online with no problems at all.

Thanks again
Dave
