Autostart Programs (Xscreensaver) When Starting Blackbox

I'm running Blackbox on Mandrake 9.2. I am wondering how I can start up a program when Blackbox starts up. I tried putting "exec /usr/X11R6/bin/xscreensaver" $*" after "exec /etc/X11/Xsession $*" in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc" but that did not work. I also tried adding /usr/X11R6/bin/xscreensaver to /etc/X11/Xsession but had no luck in this case either. Any suggestions?
