autorun application program on hotplug
 

Hello,

I'm playing around with a USB mass-storage camera - hotplugging works OK.

However, what I'd really like to have happen when the camera is plugged in is for an application
program, eg Digikam or similar, to launch automatically...

I've been playing with the scripts, and can get the camera to 'mount' fine, but, given that the scripts run at, i think, 'root' level, i've had no luck getting x apps to work (because, i think, root cannot connect to the x server..).

so what i need to know is - is there a way of getting a script running at 'root' level to masquerade as a 'user' ? i don't know whether i'm making much sense here - i'm so lacking in knowledge on this that i don't know how to phrase the question!

any help or comments would be much appreciated.
