Auto-unmount device in kde after performing "device action"


I am wondering if there is a way to umount a device after the action I have selected in the device manager has completed. The reason I am wondering is that I have set up a sync option for my USB and it would be great if it could umount the USB when it finished. I have searched Google and cannot find a way of doing this through the device manager. I have thought about doing it using umount, however I would like a notification to tell me that it has finished.

Alternatively, if anyone knows how to cause a notification to appear using the commandline that would work too.

Possibly with udev though I have never done it myself. Here is something to read:
