Auto-starting programs after login

Hello,

I am a newbie.

Is there a way to start programs AUTOMATICALLY when I have logged in.

I wan't to start my mail, fax, gaim, ... once I have logged on.
Now, I have to start them manually EVERY time.

Thanks,

Steven

what are you using gnome, kde? the only way I know of (I don't use gnome OR kde much) to get apps to auto load is the next time you logout of gnome or kde have all those apps running and tell gnome/kde to 'save the session'. By saving the session all the apps you have running when you save the session will then be started the next time you start gnome / kde.

if you are using kde just create a script or a link to the program in your ~/.kde/Autostarts folder

I am using Gnome

I have tried the SAVE SESSION OPTION.

It only saved the GAIM program.
For the other programs (Mozilla mail & tkhylafax) there was a message that it was NOT suported.

Does anyone has an other solution ?

Thanks,

Steven

If you login to a text console and you have to type startx to get to the GUI, then edit your ~.xinitrc file and add the programs before your windowmanager.

If you login to a GUI, then try editing the file ~/.Xclients-default (or .xsession, I can't remember which).
