"i dont know" just doesnt cut it. Run the program from terminal and see the error. For example

wine "C:\pathtoautocad"

Autocad 2000 is one of the only apps I still use windows with. It is written for it and it's just to slow in wine. I don't know of anyone who has gotten 2004 to work in wine.

I tried a beta test for Intellicad's (so called) linux version of their ACad clone but it was not native and also ran under wine so I never used it.

If I were you, I would just duel boot windows or get a dedicated box for your ACad 2004 I think it would be worth it if you do a lot of cad work.

Before you put a lot of effort, make sure you actually need AutoCad. For many people QCAD is just good enough. BTW, I purchased the compiled version for Debian because I ended up in Qt dependency hell.
