aumix muting

for the past week or so, whenever i open xmms to play some music, or when i open aim, i can't hear any sound. they act like they are making noise, but i don't get any errors.

i discovered that if i open aumix, everything is muted. so, i re-adjust the volume levels, and everything works fine.

i don't keep the computer on all the time, so my guess is that somehow, aumix is muting itself evertime i start a new x session, or everytime my computer boots up.

this is obviously rather annoying .

anyone have any suggestions as to how i might be able to fix it?

thanks!
chris
