Welcome to LQ. Your question is a bit vague, so can you please provide more details about what exactly you want to know.

You could start by installing:

1) XMMS is a multimedia player based on the look of WinAmp. XMMS plays MPEG layer 1/2/3, Ogg Vorbis, WAV, all formats supported by libmikmod, and CD audio. XMMS has a plugin system for Input / Output / Effects / Visualization, and through plugins it can play a lot more sound and video formats. XMMS can be downloaded from: http://freshmeat.net/projects/xmms/

2) RealPlayer@ 10 supports RealAudio, RealVideo 10, MP3, Ogg Vorbis and Theora, H263, AAC , QuickTime and more. Get ready for accelerated video, full screen playback, and a lot more to play.

3) Xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and VCDs. It also decodes multimedia files like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from local disk drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet. Xine can be found at: http://www.xinehq.de/ and rpms can be found at: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, to play the various music/video files, you need to install the codecs(for playing Windows streaming files) and plugins

1) Install w32codec-all(contains the media player windows codec dlls for several multimedia formats)which can be found at: http://packman.links2linux.de/package/046

2) Get Real Player and its plugin with instructions at this web site: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/linux.html#RealPlayer
Since Helix Player interferes with the Real Player plugin, Helix Player needs to be uninstalled on your system.

3) Install xine-lib(Core library of the xine multimedia player) which can be found at: http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/se...query=xine-lib
The codec file for XMMS will also work with Xine.
You may want to install gxine(the Gtk front end for xine) which can be found at http://www.xinehq.de/ and rpms at: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3

-------------------------------------------------------------------
If you plan to view streaming audio/video files from Mozilla based products, i.e.Mozilla, SeaMonkey, or Firefox, you will need to install an addon to accomodate this. For example, when using Firefox, Go to Tools, Add-ons, and install the MediaConnectivity add-on. You will need to configure MediaConnectivity to play your rpm files with Real Player, Windows files with Xine, etc.
