Audio KDE Bootup

Hi have put up with an audio problem runing Mandrake 9.1
No sound now heard when Mandrake boots up.
Desktop Speaker icon is all ways muted so have to unmute, then go to Aumic -Audio Mixer
to slide the Cd and volume slides fully on.
Click KSCD with audio disk installed to play music.
Have tried to save the audio configuration but this is never saved.
Have to perform the above operation each time iI need music Check volume control on task bar
Is there any way to have sound always ready?
