Audio CD in RH9

I am having problems burning an Audio CD in my RH9 installation. I can burn archives & data just fine--no problem--but I'm not really getting audio (cda) to come out.

Can someone help me out?

Thanks In Advance

which program are u using to burn the cd with?

christer 09-30-2003 01:06 AM

Well I just used ///:burn to do my archiving. I pop in a blank CD, that window opens & I do the good 'ol fashion'd drag 'n drop into the window. That is how I've archived & made data files.

For audio I'm not sure what I should be using...

you got red hat rite ?
look at the newest version of Xcdroast
the one that comes with RH won't let you in unless you are root
new version has a way round that

I've never used ///:burn
I'm sure it makes fine data cds
but Audio is a different matter apparently

made some fine tracks from Xcdroast tho

check it out

NOTE:
I think they have an rpm too
:)

Do I need to do file conversion from mp3 to .wav with XCDRoast or will it take care of that little obstacle for me during the process? I'm used to using Nero Ultra 6.0 back with windows...

Thanks, I'll grab that rpm & see what I can do.

nero has a linux version
don't they???

EDIT
why would you change from an mpeg
most modern cd players will play mpegs as well

christer 09-30-2003 10:45 AM

I did a google for 'nero linux' and also checked their site. I didn't see anything.

I need to change from mp3, not mpg. My cd player wont play an mp3 cd so I need to convert it to .cda/.wav first.

I installed the latest version of XCDRoast but it tells me 'root needs to set this up first before you can use it'. I then set it up as root but I get the same error when I re-log as normal user.

I'm not familiar with XCDRoast, but perhaps when it says that root needs to configure it, it means that root should setuid the executable, or change the permissions of the burner device?

actually read the doc's on XCDroast
up until the new version
the "allow non-root mode " was bugged up
new version fixes that
intial config has to be done by root
and set up for " non-root-user-mode " is done then
works now
had previous version too
