Audacity redundantly prompts for file saving - why?

I notice that whenever I quit Audacity, it always asks whether to save changes to the file even if I already saved it and haven't made any changes since. Would there be any point to this otherwise annoying action?

Smile Exporting != Saving

Are you exporting the audio? If you export it, you haven't technically saved it; Audacity saves in its own special format. If you know you've exported the audio properly, don't worry about the messages.
