hello everyone,

trying to install audacity on a RH9.1 box, and it requires these:
rpm -Uvh libvorbis-1.0rc3-1.i386.rpm

error: Failed dependencies:
libogg >= 1.0rc3 is needed by libvorbis-1.0rc3-1
libvorbisenc.so.2 is needed by (installed) sox-12.17.3-11
libvorbisenc.so.2 is needed by (installed) arts-1.1-7

libvorbisenc.so.2 is needed by (installed) kdebase-3.1-12
libvorbisenc.so.2 is needed by (installed) kdemultimedia-3.1-4
libvorbisenc.so.2 is needed by (installed) kdeaddons-3.1-4

libvorbisfile.so.3 is needed by (installed) koffice-1.2.1-7
libvorbis = 1:1.0 is needed by (installed) libvorbis-devel-1.0-7

>> now when try to find it in rpmfind or on the net, i just get the vorbis package. libvorbis-1.0-7.i386.rpm is what seems to be newest and when i install it says it is already installed. so r these encoders not in the regular vorbis package???

IT is also asking for libogg. And when i try to install i get this:

root@localhost audacity]# rpm -ivh libogg-1.0rc3-1.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
file /usr/lib/libogg.so.0 from install of libogg-1.0rc3-1 conflicts with file from package libogg-1.0-4
[root@localhost audacity]# rpm -Uvh libogg-1.0rc3-1.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libogg >= 2:1.0 is needed by (installed) libvorbis-1.0-7
libogg = 1.0 is needed by (installed) libogg-devel-1.0-4

>> So i have been stuck here for about a week or so. If someone could give me some help it would be greatly appreicated.

/Jason

that's not what he is saying..... a FILE name is NOT NOT NOT a PACKAE name, they are differnet things.

FILE = blah-0.123.rpm
PACKAGE = blah or blah-0.123
