ATK package???

Compiling pyGTK and geting the error:

checking for atk >= 1.0.0... Package atk was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `atk.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'atk' found
configure: error: maybe you want the gtk-gnome-1-2 branch?

How do I fix it?

You need the libatk-dev package. I think this is the latest package for mandrake.

Building off of the last error message, heres another!

checking for GLIB - version >= 2.4.0... no
*** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link.

I really bloody wish there was an RPM for pyGTK....
