Aterm & vi ^?
 

I normally use vi to edit files here and there when the editing isn't too complicated. I switched from the gnome-terminal to aterm and for some reason when I do vi in aterm i can't do backspace! instead of deleting the previous character it inserts ^? into the file. This is really annoying and I don't like using gedit just to change a quick thing here and tehre in my icewm settings or my fstab. any ideas?

that thread was talking about vi not working at all. they had no mention of problems like having "^?" instead of backspace working correctly. I did what was mentioned there (just thought i would give it a whirl) and it didn't do anything. so searching was a good idea, as you said, altough it didn't give me the answer to my problem
