Asx files do not play in Mplayer

Hello there,

I Downloaded and installed mplayer mplayer-gui and w32codecs but i'm not able to play asx streams also i'm missing a file called mplayerplug-in.so so i can use it as a plug-in for mozilla 1.7.2

Does anyone experience the same problems or can anybody tell me where to download the appropriate codec for asx.

I've downloaded the w32 codec from www.mplayerhq.hu

does anybody have a qlue o how to get it to work?

Thnx Maarten

I'm no expert, but I"ll do my best.

Grap the Mplayer essential codecs pack on the website you put. They should be installed and extracted (at least for me) in /usr/lib/win32 (I've also read it could be installed in /usr/lib/local/win32, or something like that).

As for the mplayerplug-in.so file, you need to get the mplayerplug-in 2.6.6, I believe. You just compile it and make it and then you can put the mplayerplug-in.so file into your mozilla/plugins/ directory. Don't ask me about compiling it since I have no idea how.

Tnx for your reply

I've downloaded the mplayerplugin thingy
and will try tonight.

I was under the presumption it was included in the gui package.

As for asx i've allready installed the codec-essentials but when i paste an url into mplayer it show me a black screen for a sec and then it does nothing (no errors either)

But perhaps the plugin changes someting

I'll get back to you
