ARRGGGGHHH III (the final Argh!) Kernel Comp. Prob
Hello everyone,
I've been trying to compile Kernel version 2.4.2 on my system for the last week. I updated all the tools when I compiled Glibc 2.5.5, into the system, so thats not a problem. But I just can't get the kernel to ... compress.
I go through and configure the options with 'make menuconfig'
the I make dependencies. finally I issue a 'make bzImage' or 'bzlilo' and everything seems to go ok untill I get the next few lines:
<other 'MAKE' output>
tools/build -b bbootsect bsetup compressed/bmvlinux.out CURRENT > bzImage
Root device is (3,65)
Boot sector 1024 Bytes
Boot block must be exactly 512 bytes
make[1]: ***[bzImage] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/linux-2.4.2/arch/i386/boot'
make: ***[bzlilo] Error 2
After delving in Build.c, it seems that it expects bbootsect (originally bootsect.S, in the /arch/i386/boot directory) to be 512 bytes, but after compiling its 4900 bytes.
Either way, I can't get a compressed bootable image of my new kernel, can anyone out there tell me whats wrong, or what I am doing wrong?
Thanx!
